LG G7 leaks with a Google Assistant key
Amidst the hyped launch of the next OnePlus smartphone, Korea’s LG has silently announced the launch date of its Galaxy S9+ rivalling G7 flagship smartphone. The LG flagship is confirmed to globally unveiled on May 2, 2018. However, popular tipster Evan Blass has got his hands on leaked official renders of the G7 that put it to display in its full glory.
The leaks reveal and confirm that LG has also opted to jump on the bandwagon and adopt the notch for the G7’s display. The renders show the G7 sporting a notch on top of the display, which is seen housing the earpiece, the camera and all the sensors. The display also has a noticeable chin at the bottom, like the Huawei P20 Pro. However, the fingerprint sensor rests on the rear panel instead of the chin.
The rear glass panel houses a vertically aligned dual camera setup along with LED flash and other sensors. The fingerprints sensor rests below the camera module, which confirms that LG is also opting out of the in-display fingerprint scanner trend. The 3.5mm headphone jack is also confirmed to be present, thus making it only flagship alongside Samsung’s Galaxy S9 to feature it. Additionally, it also features the rumoured dedicated Google Assistant key, which is LG’s answer to Samsung’s Bixby key on the flagship S and Note series models.
While no other information about its specifications has been leaked yet, expect the G7 ThinQ (rumoured to be its name) to built around a Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is also expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. Expect LG to price it competitively against Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Google's Pixel 2.
