Apple to launch two iPhones this year, not three

A Chinese tech blog claims that it has received insider information from the Apple supply chain.

Apple analysts have indicated in the past that the Cupertino tech giant is expected to break away from its annual tradition of launching two models of iPhones and will instead reveal three devices. However, a Chinese tech blog claims that it has received insider information from the Apple supply chain suggesting that Apple will reveal two models this year, not three.

Micgadget.com claims that “some friends from Foxconn confirmed” that Hon Hai (also Foxconn) has received an order for two models — a radically re-designed OLED iPhone and iPhone 8 (or iPhone Edition). We don’t know how far this information is true; therefore it is advisable that it be taken with a grain of salt.

The rumors that Apple was working on three iPhone models first began in March last year when noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo laid out his expectations, claiming that Apple will launch a 4.7-inch, 5.5-inch LCD iPhones along with a premium OLED model.
