HTC U11 finally tastes Android Oreo's sweetness
When Google unveiled Android 8.0 Oreo before the world a few months ago, HTC was one of the manufacturers to announce the availability of the latest Android on its flagship U11 sometime later in 2017. It is November now and as expected, the Taiwanese company has announced the availability of the Oreo update on the U11 starting November 27.
The announcement comes via HTC’s Mo Versi, VP, Product Management, on his Twitter account. “Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. The Oreo OS update will be available for download on the HTC U11 unlocked version starting on Monday! Enjoy!,” read the tweet.
The Oreo update will bring considerable improvements to the U11, concerning the performance and battery life. It will be interesting to see whether HTC's update brings any major UI overhaul to the existing version of Sense UI. The U11 runs a nearly stock version of Android 7.1.1 and has some pretty powerful internals (such as the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM and 12MP rear camera) along with some useful gimmicky features (such as the ‘squeezable’ Edge Sense and multiple AI-based assistants).
