Android creator Andy Rubin teases his new high-end smartphone

Andy's new phone has no name revealed as yet and neither is there any given launch date for now.

Android’s creator Andy Rubin has earlier announced that he will be building a new high-end smartphone and will launch it somewhere in mid 2017. Well, it looks like he is ready to show it to the world.

In a social post yesterday, Andy Rubin took to Twitter to show off his creation. “I’m really excited about how this is shaping up. Eager to get it in more people’s hands,’ said Rubin in his tweet.

Andy had started a new firm Essential Products Inc, which aimed to bring in several mobile and smart home products under one single platform. Essential listed tablets, smartphones and mobile software among its products. The company employs around 40 people who are largely poached from Apple and Google. The new smartphone is said to compete directly with iPhone and Pixel in terms of price and specs.

Prototypes of the early smartphone by Andy Rubin were reported sporting a large bezel-free display with a ceramic back and as large as an iPhone 7 Plus. Reports of the smartphone sporting Apple’s 3D Touch were also loose. Other features that were rumoured on the new smartphone include a magnetic charging option and an accessories connector that can allow the device to add aftermarket hardware to increase its features. The smartphone will run Google’s Android operating system.

As for the teaser in the tweet, Andy’s smartphone reveals a bezel-less display that looks pretty similar Xiaomi’s Mi Mix that was launched late last year. The device also reveals that the earpiece and the camera seem missing from the forehead, which is almost similar to what is seen on the presently available Mi Mix.

It’s too early to predict anything about the hardware and features at this point since there is very little or almost no concrete information on the device. However, we are not too far from the device’s unveiling.
