Samsung fans rejoice, Galaxy Note 8 confirmed

Samsung has revealed its intentions to launch the next Galaxy Note smartphone in the later half of 2017.

In one of its press release regarding its financial earnings in the first quarter of 2017, the Korean electronics giant confirmed that it will be getting a new flagship model in its flagship lineup of phones later in the year. As we all know, that second “later-in-the-year” flagship has always been the Galaxy Note model every year.

The press release quotes – “For the mobile business, market competition is expected to intensify in the second half. Against this backdrop, the company will strive to maintain profitability through robust sales of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the launch of a new flagship smartphone in the second half. Moreover, Samsung will also look to sustain profitability in the mid- to low-end segment by launching new products and streamlining the lineup.”

This information dismisses all the rumours about Samsung killing the Galaxy Note series of its flagship smartphones. After the Note 7 debacle, industry analysts and experts suggested that Samsung could pull down the Note lineup of phones due to a major amount of damage done to the Galaxy brand.

The company informed that most of its profits during the first quarter was "driven by the components businesses, namely the semiconductor division and the display panel segment." But, "revenue from the mobile business decreased due to a decline in flagship product sales," it said. Clearly, Samsung is hinting about the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge bearing the brunt of the Note 7’s immense demand during the festive seasons. Consumers preferred the Note 7 to be a better phone over the S7 series during the Note 7 recall period.

Hopefully, the second quarter earnings will balance the financial sheets in favour of the mobile division due to the immense demand of the Galaxy S8 and S8+. However, it seems that Samsung wants to continue with the Note series of phones to battle the nest iPhone later in the year and manage a major amount of consumers’ interest and investment towards their products.
