Samsung Galaxy S10 with in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor rumoured
In-screen fingerprint sensors in smartphones are still an oddity in 2018 and are expected to hog the fame in the smartphone market by next year. And to stay updated with the industry, Samsung would reportedly include an in-display fingerprint scanner under its 2019 line-up of Galaxy S series smartphones. It is highly rumoured to launch three smartphones.
Previous reports suggested that Samsung would launch two high-end models with an in-display fingerprint scanner, while the third variant "will feature a physical button, fitted with the fingerprint sensor, on the right side."
Now an official from the display industry told The Investor that “the two high-end Galaxy S models will come fitted with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner while the other one will house an optical fingerprint sensor beneath the screen,” The South Korean giant has reportedly partnered with chip maker Qualcomm for the sensors.
Additionally, we have already witnessed an in-display fingerprint sensor in Vivo X21, Honor 10 and Vivo NEX. Vivo has also shown off a concept model that includes Qualcomm’s ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
Apart from these, the S10 is rumoured to feature a triple camera setup, comprising of a 16MP regular camera, paired with a 13MP sensor with a telephoto lens alongside a 12MP sensor that will come equipped with a wide-angle lens. The device is said to sport a 6.44-inch curved Super AMOLED display.
The Galaxy S10 is expected to be unveiled globally in February next year. Besides, Samsung recently launched its flagship smartphone — the Galaxy Note 9 with the smartest ever S Pen stylus support. The upgraded S Pen is equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy, turning the stylus from a note-taking accessory into a full-fledged remote control for your smartphone.
