Apple to launch iPhone 8 on Sept 12?
Apple is scheduled to hold a product announcement event on September 12, reinforcing expectation that it may release highly-anticipated iPhone 8 as well as updates to two iPhone 7 models, reported the Wall Street Journal.
The Cupertino tech giant is known for unveiling three iPhone models this year --- a premium model, likely to be called iPhone 8, and upgrades to two iPhone 7 models released last year. The updates to iPhone 7 models will be called iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
To mark 10th anniversary of the original iPhone, the upcoming premium model will reportedly feature OLED display running edge-to-edge, advance facial recognition technology that will unlock in a few “hundreds of milliseconds” and a ‘SmartCamera’ that will enable the device to detect a specific scene and optimise the setting for better picture. Furthermore, the handset will be the powered by Apple’s faster A11 processor based on a 10nm chipset and will operated on firm’s latest operating system iOS 11.
The model is also expected to be pricier. According to a report by The New York Times, the citing sources, has appeared claiming “the premium model will be priced at around $999”, almost $350 more than the standard iPhone available today.
If not new iPhone models, Apple may launch a smartwatch with an LTE cellular chip that allows it to directly make calls.
