Potluck of specs
It's that time of the year when corporate workplaces are abuzz with 'ethnic days', 'decorate your bay' contests and everyone's eternal favourite — potluck parties! For the uninitiated, potlucks basically mean you bring a home-cooked food dish, and so does everyone else. At lunch time, there's a virtual potpourri of dishes from all corners of the country for everyone to try out. You are free to pick up the best of what you want and create a gastronomical combo for your digestive pleasure. Now, imagine if your smart phone came with a similar 'right fit' mix of specs. In the potpourri of smart phone brands and specs, it becomes difficult to find a device for yourself that suits your unique needs. Of course, if you are photography enthusiasts you have the 'camera phones', if you are a gaming enthusiast, there are the 'gaming phones', and if you are a music enthusiasts, there are devices that come with Dolby Atmos preinstalled. But what if you want a little of everything, and at a compelling price point?
Comio, a new Chinese smart phone brand tries to do just this. Initially, their handsets will come from China, but the brand is confident of manufacturing in India very soon. Comio made an official entry into India last week with three smart phones -- the P1, the S1 and the C1. Priced at Rs 9,999, Rs 8,999 and Rs 6,999 respectively, with minor variation in specs.
Here's a quick snapshot of all the three devices. With a 2GB + 32GB configuration, the S1 comes with a 2700mAh battery, a 5.2 inches HD screen, a front fingerprint scanner and a 13MP + 5MP camera configuration. Powered by a 64-bit quad-core processor, the device is lightweight at 159g and fits snuggly in your palms. The unibody metal frame gives it a sturdy look. The P1 comes with 13MP + 8MP cameras, with a larger 5000mAh battery, a larger 5.5 inches display and a 3GB + 32GB memory configuration. The cheapest of the lot -- the C1 -- has an 8MP and 5MP cameras, a 2200mAh battery, a 5 inches display and a 1GB + 32GB memory and storage combo.
Each Comio device comes with 100 days extra warranty, an interesting screen breakage warranty and a handset upgrade offer. The first three in the Comio lineup for India seem to have struck the right balance of design and performance. While we wait for more devices to enter India, we say for now "Bharat mein aapka swagat hain"!
