Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 snapped sporting Find X-style camera slider
Earlier on, the latest trend with smartphones was the notch. Then, in order to remove it, Vivo introduced the Nex with a pop-up selfie. Oppo launched their own version with an elevated slider on the Find X and lately, Honor has shown off its Magic 2 smartphone with a similar mechanism. Hot on its heels, Xiaomi president Lin Bin has posted the first official image of the Mi Mix 3 that features the elevated camera slider as seen on Oppo’s flagship, the Find X.
As per a report by TechRadar, Xiaomi’s Bn Lin shows off the new handset with a proposed October launch date. From the image, we can see that the elevated camera mechanism is hidden behind an almost bezel-less display. Also, from the picture, we can see that the entire back of the Mi Mix 3 slides up and not just the top portion as is the case with the Find X.
The report states, “This unique approach leads us to believe that instead of the camera popping up, the Mi Mix 3's display may actually slide down. Could this mean that the Mi Mix 3's sliding mechanism is not motorized like the Find X, but rather a manual implementation that would see the user simply flick the screen down when they want to take a selfie?”
This is not the first time the Mi Mix 3 has posed for the camera. Earlier on, leaked images of the handset had popped up showing a Vivo NEX-like elevated camera. It appears that Xiaomi might have scrapped that idea in favour of the one used in the image above.
More about this handset should be known closer to the launch date.
