Welcome to ‘Barcraft’
A new trend brings some fantastic news for gamers across India
As the Esports phenomenon continues to sweep across the globe we are seeing more and more professional teams and bigger tournaments year after year that are increasingly spectator friendly for both, gamers at the venue and back home.
Now it is making that transition to becoming a more social experience with the rise of ‘Barcrafting’ — something Barcraft United hopes to promote across the world.
Barcrafting started off in the States back in 2011 with the start of the North American All Star League for StarCraft 2 and has since spread across the globe and even transcended StarCraft to include Street Fighter’s ‘Barfights’ and DOTA 2’s ‘Pubstomps’.
Today, Esports viewership is an all-time high with major event finals easily crossing over 1 million concurrent viewers quite regularly now; however, viewing a game in a pub full of crazy Esports enthusiasts is a far more exciting proposition than sitting at home with a beer.
Barcraft United hopes to extend the Esports viewing experience to more gamers across the world by hosting events at public venues around the globe with a specific focus on India starting with DOTA 2’s, The International, that is currently underway.
Barcraft United helps brings event organisers in touch with members of the community who might be interested in attending such events with a network of 300 venues across the globe including India.
Currently, there are seven venues registered with Barcraft United across India that are hosting Pubstomps for TI5 along with a few dozen other independent Pubstomps across India.
Not only will gamers feel at home with their community, the entire bar experience is being customised to cater to the gaming audience with game-themed drinks and menus, several themed packages and of course tons of merchandise giveaways.
This is the first time Esports viewing is being taken seriously in India as opposed to the usual isolated Pubstomps. The TI5 Pubstomps in India will help pave the way for other games like League of Legends and Counter Strike which already have a massive following with Barcraft United themselves interested in hosting viewing events.
