XBox One is in top Gear!
Good news for backwards compatibility as MS offers a dream Gears of War bundle
In June, Microsoft set the gaming world on fire when they announced that the Xbox One will support backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 titles on the Xbox One. However, till date, the list of games that were supported was paltry at best, with the best game on the list being the original Mass Effect.
But now, all that has changed, MS announced that with every copy of the Gears of War: Ultimate edition for the Xbox One gamers will get access to all the four Gears games through backwards compatibility. All you have to do is play online between August 25, 2015 and December 31, 2015 and you’ll have them added to your library for free when the backwards compatibility feature goes public later this year.
Like other Xbox 360 backwards compatible titles, the four Gears titles will also support apps such as Game DVR, Snap and screenshots and you will also be able to play online with others regardless of which Xbox they are on.
Moreover, all those who are part of the Xbox One’s preview program, will be able to play the original Gears of War on their consoles today, as the game is now supported via backwards compatibility. It is great move by Microsoft to expand on the list of games that are available via backwards compatibility and this also sweetens the deal for anyone buying the Ultimate Edition, as they essentially get access to four games for the price of one along with the early beta for Gears of War 4. The Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for the Xbox One hits the shelves on August 25 of this year.
