‘Mahayoddha Rama’, directed by Rohit Vaid, is unique in its storytelling style and novel presentation.
Talking about the project, Rohit says, “There is a treasure trove of stories in Indian mythology, the trick is not to deliver the same package but to interpret it. That's when it will grow and expand. And find a longer shelf life. That's what we have tried to do with this film-".
Rama, the Indian hero from the Vedas is seen here in a new light. The entire story is from Ravana’s point of view with his 10 heads talking to each other, providing for comic relief through their individual and unique point of view. Some of the voices for the heads are given by famous artists like Gaurav Gera, Roshan Abbas, Ameen Sayani, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Kikku Shardha and Gulshan Grover being the main head.
The voice of the characters is provided by big names in the industry like Kunal Kapoor, Gulashan Grover, Jimmy Shergill and Mouni Roy. The music of the film is composed by Late Aadesh Shrivastava and the lyrics written by veteran writer Javed Akhtar. The movie is scheduled to release on 4th November, 2016 and targets not only children but adults as well.
Although the music is modern and contemporary, the lyrics bring out the essence, and keeping with the theme of the Indian mythological epic ‘Ramayana’.
What makes ‘Mahayoddha Rama’ so unique is its storytelling style and novel presentation. Imagine if you will, a tale being told from a 13 year old’s point of view.
