Eisha Singh, Sartaj Gill roped in for Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani
Prime time daily Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani is all set for a leap of 12 years on the show. Set in the 1960s, the show will introduce new characters. While Eisha Singh of Ishq Ka Rang Safed fame has been roped in to play the role of Gayatri, Sartaj Gill who was previously seen in Begusarai, will be seen playing Raja Rajbeer in the track.
Eisha says, “The new track will show Rani going to college where she will meet fellow student, Rajbeer who is an arrogant young royal. Little does she know that he is in fact, her childhood friend. But Rani is still the bubbly, simple girl she’s always been, so the contrast will create interesting situations.” Since the story is set in the ’60s, Eisha will don salwar suits with balloon sleeves, which were a rage during that era. She says, “The link is simple, with little or no make-up. This is the first time I am playing a character in a period drama. I have been watching films from the ’50s and ’60s as a reference point.”
Sartaj Gill lost weight and will sport a clean-shaven look for this role. Talking about his character, he says, “Raja was sent out of the palace to study in a boarding school, meant for kids from royal families. On growing up, he turns into an elitist snob who looks down on people. But although Rajbeer may project that he is an insensitive, spoilt brat but he is a sensitive person by heart. His disconnect with the father too has impacted him as a person.”
