From playing an on screen daughter to an onscreen mother, it’s been a long journey for actress Hina Khan in her role as Akshara. Point her growth on the show to the actress herself and she says, “I am still what I was seven years ago. Nothing has changed. I am still going strong and very proud of what I’ve survived so far on the show. I’m also looking forward to all the new tracks the show will introduce in the future.”

While the actress has firmly etched herself as Akshara in the minds of her fans, some recent reports had suggested that the actress held some reservations against the new track, which featured her as a mother-in-law. Clarifying about the same, the actress explains, “I have never had any reservations. If the script demands I will readily play mother-in-law in the show. I have already cleared things on twitter. Honestly, it is strictly between me and my producer. We have never had a problem. When he told me about it, I agreed immediately. The focus has shifted completely on Naira now. At the moment we are focusing on the mother-daughter track.”

The actress, who is quite excited about the new track, is quite certain that the new changes will nudge the show to the top of the ratings chart. “I really see this track atleast in the top five because we have worked really hard on it. It’s been very well-written and I am sure that the audience will love each and every episode and wait for it with eagerness,” she adds. Hina also explains what it feels like to play the same character for seven long years and says, “Of course it gets monotonous. I have never denied that. It will sound very fake if I say that it doesn’t. I think my producer understands and respects that and so this obvious fact has changed nothing between him and me. He still treats me like his daughter and I still treat him like my father. We are still going on with the journey and we will continue till the end.”
