‘It’s our hard work that’s reflected on the screen’
They have been one of TV’s favourite couples; but the bond between Ishq Ka Rang Safed lead actors Mishal Raheja and Eisha Singh is much more than just that of co-actors or on-screen love interests. The couple, whose screen journey together has now ended with Eisha’s exit from the show, sat down with us for a chat on what makes the two tick. Excerpts:
So how did the two of you break the ice when you first met Mishal: The first time we met was at the Film Farm office, but that was a small meeting. Later, we directly met in Varanasi where we started shooting. It was very hot, so the ice didn’t, break it melted! (Laughs) Eisha: When we met for the first time, we only had a normal introductory chat. It was only later when we started shooting that we eventually got to know each other.
Was it initially awkward filming the romantic scenes Mishal: No, it wasn’t awkward for me because I have done this before in previous shows. Maybe it was little awkward for Eisha initially. Eisha: Not really. We share a great bond and that made me very comfortable while shooting romantic scenes.
What do you think makes your on-screen chemistry work Mishal: It’s our sincerity and dedication towards our work. Eisha: I feel that it’s our dedication and hard work that is reflected on screen.
Who is a better co-star among the two of you Mishal: Of course me (Laughs) Eisha: Obviously me. (Laughs) But jokes apart, I think Mishal is really a great co-star. He has helped me a lot and I enjoy working with him.
Who takes more re-takes Mishal: Neither. Eisha: No one, because we rehearse well before going for the take.
Any particular scene that has made its way to your heart so far Mishal: All the scenes with ladoos are close to my heart because I have a sweet tooth. I end up eating two or three ladoos both before and after the scene. So you can say that these scenes have made it to my stomach instead of my heart.
Any scene that’s made you go ‘I wish I had done it better’ Mishal: If I feel there is any scene, which I could’ve done better, I make sure I do it then and there. Eisha: I usually recall my day while I am travelling back home, so I have instances where I have felt that I could have done better. In fact, this happens to me everyday because I look for improvement in everything.
Tell us one thing you like about each other and one thing you dislike Mishal: I like everything about her. Eisha: Oh, he’s the perfect co-star for me!
Any interesting fan comment on your jodi that’s caught your eye Mishal: Fans have started calling us Vidhani like how they call Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as Brangelina. Eisha: We get lot of comments. I don’t remember any specific one. But I am very glad that viewers like our jodi.
So, who among the two of you is the jagga jasoos on the sets Mishal: It’s Eisha. She knows everything that’s happening on the sets. Eisha: It’s me! I make sure I keep myself updated about things.
Any annoying habits/secrets you would like to reveal about each other Mishal: There is one, but it’s not just about Eisha. The one habit that I have observed in all my heroines is that they take too much time to do their hair! Eisha: Mishal hates cutting his nails so I keep nagging him to cut them. Another thing that annoys me the most is that sometimes he messes my hair.
