Looks like the makers of Mallika Sherawat’s television show, The Bachelorette India — Mere Khayalon ki Mallika are leaving no stone unturned to make it seem larger-than-life. Right from the show’s launch to the actress’ carefully put-together wardrobe, the team seems to be making no compromises. Bollywood stylist Surily Goel, who has films such as Salaam Namaste, Saawariya and Ishq In Paris to her credit, has styled Mallika’s look for the show. Giving us a sneak preview Surily says, “The whole idea is to give Mallika’s look an Indian touch. The show has been shot at locations in Udaipur, so the look had to compliment the setting. However, since the show is about the common man wooing Mallika, we did not want her to seem too royal or unapproachable. The show is for the masses and we want them to relate to the looks.” Surily tells us that though there is a desi touch to the look, the team has made an effort to give Mallika a Hollywood edge. “Even if it’s a Western attire like a gown, it won’t be over-the-top. I have given her a lot of anarkali salwars and long gowns,” she says. From what we hear, Mallika’s hair and makeup is being done by an artiste from Los Angeles with whom Mallika has worked for her Hollywood projects. Speaking about her favourite outfits on the show, the stylist tells us that she bought clothes from India’s most popular designers to put together the actress’ look. “My favourite is the sari Mallika wore for the first episode of the show, at the introduction party. It was a Tarun Tahiliani sari in gold and maroon. Since it was shot at a palace, the colours went very well with the regal ambiance. This was teamed with Swarovski jewellery. Thankfully, Mallika is very experimental with her style. And warmer tones go well with her complexion. Being a bright personality shades of yellow, orange and red suit her the best,” she adds. Surily goes on to add that since the actress has a good fashion sense, she had a lot of inputs to give too. “Mallika had a lot of suggestions. Whenever you work with a celebrity they always have their own preferences, but Mallika knows what cuts and styles suit her best. However, she was also aware that on the show, she’s not playing a fashionista. We had 65 outfits, each different from the other. Since she’s fit and toned, it’s not difficult to style her. But keeping in mind a family audience, we haven’t given her anything too revealing,” she concludes.
