She shot to fame as Bindiya, the feisty protagonist from the show Bhagyavidhaata and currently, actress Richa Sony is looking forward to the world premiere of her short film Silent Statue opposite Indraneil Sengupta at the Cannes Festival. Richa says, “It’s a proud moment for me that the film is premiering at Cannes. I cannot thank God enough for this wonderful opportunity.”

Richa plays the role of a mute woman in the movie, who wants to get married. Commenting on her role, Richa says, “She sells off everything she has and even sacrifices her partner’s dog, on a black magic woman’s insistence. The climax of the film sees the woman stand naked in front of the man smeared with the dead dog’s ashes. But whether her dream comes true forms the crux of the story.” How was sharing screen-space with co-actor Indraneil She says, “He is a professional — one can learn a lot of things from him. Working with him was great.”

Richa was previously seen in shows like Pehchaan and Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan. After her shows went off air, she was hardly seen on the tube. She says she is yet to find a

project worth her time. “I would love to work on a fiction show. Roles, money and dates matter to me. If everything falls in place, I would definitely take up a fiction show. Acting is my passion; rest is destiny.”
