Small screen love story
Vivian Dsena and Vahbiz Dorabjee are among the most photogenic husband-wife pairs in Tellytown. In this chat with us, they tell us all about how love blossomed, and led to their walk down the aisle.Truly a made-for-each-other couple, this.
Vivian, Vahbiz, what were your first impressions of each other Vivian: We met during a workshop for our show Pyar Ki Yeh Ek Kahaani. We met like colleagues, co-actors. What I really noticed about Vahbiz though, was that she was always happy, giggling, laughing, chatting with the others. She came across as a very positive and happy-go-lucky girl. Vahbiz: We met during the workshop for PKYEK. We didn’t speak much at the time and I thought he was very reserved and didn’t have too many friends. I didn’t think he was friendly, but he was also a good-looking guy!
So what happened after that How did love blossom Vivian: It was during an outdoor shoot schedule for PKYEK that we became friends. After that, we decided to take it to the next level, and we started dating, and that was immediately followed by our engagement. We thought we’d be the right partners for each other, and decided to get hitched. Vahbiz: Yes, when we went to Panchgani for our first schedule, we became friends and then we started dating.
What were your favourite memories from your wedding Vivian: There are lots of lovely memories from not just our wedding, but our engagement as well, and we had a full-fledged sangeet ceremony also. During our wedding, we had so many rituals we interacted with each other’s families, met with cousins and other relatives we hadn’t seen in years Vahbiz: Even more than the wedding, it was our engagement that was the extravaganza! We got engaged very quickly. We had big ceremonies for the engagement and wedding in Pune with our friends and family. We had a blast!
Working in the same industry, do you find that you’re very critical of each other’s work Vivian: Yes, we’re both critical because we feel that helps you grow as an actor. I believe you should take advice from family members first because they will not like your work all the time. Outsiders may praise you falsely, saying you have done a fabulous job even if you haven’t. But family members tell you honestly that you were bad, pathetic or could improve. So honest opinions come from family members. Vahbiz: Yes, of course. We both guide each other. That’s the advantage of belonging to the same industry. I am critical about his work and he also advises me.
What are the qualities you love in each other and what annoys you Vivian: Vahbiz’s best quality is her positive attitude towards life. She’s always smiling. She maintains a lot of positivity in our relationship as well. She isn’t as calm as me though. I’m a patient man so it doesn’t affect me, but she does react in a very hyper manner to things that can be sorted calmly. Vahbiz: His best quality is that he is big-hearted and kind. He is not stingy with money. There’s nothing about him that annoys me — but he is a prankster, he teases me too much!
Tell us about your most memorable vacation together. Vivian: Well, it was when we were in the Maldives. Technically, it was our honeymoon. She will also say the same. Vahbiz: We both have been very lucky to have travelled together a lot. One of our best trips was to Australia and second, to the Maldives. In Australia we had awesome time and Maldives is like heaven on earth.
Who is the shopaholic among you two Vivian: Both of us are shopaholics! Vahbiz: Both of us. Although, sometimes Vivian beats me at it. He is a big shopaholic for a guy!
How do you guys react to flirtatious fans Vivian: I am not a social media buff, I hardly interact with my fans.Whenever I go to an event and my wife is not around, they start shouting, “We love you”, “We want to marry you” — so I just say I am not good enough for them! Vahbiz: We are used to it. We laugh it off and don’t let get inside our heads.
Are you open to doing another show together Vivian: Of course, why not If we get a show together, we would love to do it. Vahbiz: We’d be very happy to do a show together.
