Yatharth Ratnum wins first edition of the stage

Nineteen-year-old Yatharth Ratnum from Varanasi was announced the winner on Colors Infinity’s English singing reality show, The Stage.

Nineteen-year-old Yatharth Ratnum from Varanasi was announced the winner on Colors Infinity’s English singing reality show, The Stage. Yartharth reveals that it took him a good two hours to accept this. He says, “I wasn’t expecting to win the show. I wanted to thank so many people but I couldn’t, because I was completely stumped. I did this show only for the love of music.”

Yatharth was previously a runner up on Sa Re Ga Ma Li’l Champs in 2009. Did his experience on the previous reality show help him this time around He says, “It didn’t help per se, but it got me habituated to the pressure. Reality shows make you strong and nothing can shake you after that.”

With the season coming to a close, Yatharth admits that he will miss his mentors. He says, “I will certainly miss Ehsaan Noorani the most. He helped me learn new things not just as a musician but also as a person. I connected well with him; and could understand where he is coming from.”

We will next see him in a film titled Blue Mountain. Elaborating on it, Yatharth says, “I have completed shooting the film — I play the lead in the movie, and have also worked on four songs for it. There are many things I want to do in music internationally — I want to create new sounds and I want to make myself known around the globe.”
