Canada: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is back in the news. This time for correcting a woman for saying “mankind” instead of “peoplekind”.

On 1st February Trudeau was answering questions at Edmonton, Alberta when a woman who claimed to be a part of World Mission Society Church of God engaged the young prime minister, the Washington Post reported.

The woman who spoke about the power of ‘maternal love’ and about her church, thanked the prime minister for recognizing the "ability and power that women actually possess." She ended her long question by requesting Trudeau to look into laws regarding the charitable status of religious organisations.

She then circled back to "maternal love," describing it as "the love that's going to change the future of mankind," when she was interrupted by Trudeau who said, “We like to say ‘peoplekind’, not necessarily ‘mankind’, because it’s more inclusive.”

The audience broke into applause, including the woman, whose name is not known.

"There you go, exactly. Yes, thank you," she said.

Trudeau has come under fire for “virtue signally,” “mansplaining” and being “too politically correct.”

Conservatives broke into a patronising rhetoric calling Trudeau’s move -- as Australian conservative commentator Rita Panahi said – “an attempt to appease those desperate to find offence where none exists” with others claiming that “his political correctness has gone haywire.”

Few others however came forth in support of the liberal prime minister saying that the situation had been put out of context.

Daniel Dale, a Toronto Star correspondent said that the “US right-wing pile-on” was misleading as Trudeau was lightly ribbing a woman who was rambling about the power of women” and accused it of omitting context.

Drew Brown, VICE political columnist mocked Trudeau’s critics saying the prime minister was "so woke his brain went supernova and exploded!"

And then of course there were the Tweeple:
