Islamabad: In a major blow to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), several disgruntled leaders submitted their resignations to custodian of Dargah Sial Sharif, Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi on Sunday in Faisalabad.

The move came during the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (finality of the prophethood) Conference of Sunni Ittehad Council in Faisalabad’s Dhobi Ghaat Ground led by Sialvi who announced his dissociation from the PML-N a few days earlier.

At least two Members of National Assembly (MNAs), three Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs), local government representatives and party officials tendered their resignation in the conference.

Sialvi has also reiterated demand for a resignation of the Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah over his stance on the finality of the prophethood.

Pir Hamidud Din Sialvi said that their cause was devoid of political ambitions and only for the sake of the finality of the prophet and asserted that this principle was not be compromised.
