Panama leaks: Nawaz Sharif to appear before JIT today
Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will appear before the Joint Investigation Team today in connection with the Panama leaks scandal.
Finance minister Ishaq Dar said Mr Sharif asked party workers to stay away from the JIT secretariat. He said state institutions were not going to create any hurdle in the proceedings of the JIT constituted to probe the Panama case.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Wednesday, he said state institutions were providing the JIT what it required. He said the government had respect for the process of investigation but their doubts were also part of the record. He added, “We fully respect the law and the Constitution.”
Mr Dar urged political parties to sit together and formulate a national economic agenda for the country. He said the Speaker of the National Assembly may lead these efforts after Ramzan.
