Nawaz Sharif, Maryam return to Lahore from London

The family had flown to London on Dec 5 to visit ailing Kulsoom Nawaz who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma at a London hospital.

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz returned to Pakistan on Sunday after spending over 10 days in London.

They arrived at the Lahore airport and departed for their residence Jati Umra. The two are facing corruption cases filed against them by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Earlier, the former premier said that the top court’s verdict in petitions against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan and secretary general Jahangir Tareen proved “partisanship in justice served by the top court.”

He asserted that a strong movement would be launched by PML-N for the rule of law and the Constitution.

He said that PTI chief had owned Niazi Services company. The PML-N president complained that his ‘imaginary’ salary was counted as his asset by the top court. “PML-N would do whatever is needed for supremacy of the law and the Constitution of Pakistan,” he added.

He claimed that each stance taken by the political party since July 28 — when he was disqualified as the PM — was coming true as predicted.

The family had flown to London on December 5 to visit ailing Kulsoom Nawaz who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma at a London hospital.

Nawaz Sharif’s departure came after an accountability court exempted Nawaz Sharif from appearance in hearings for a week and rejected the same plea of Maryam Nawaz while maintaining her exemption till December 15.

Also, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected Nawaz Sharif’s pleas seeking merger of all three NAB references against him and directed accountability court to continue trial against the Sharif family.
