Imran Khan, Pak Army chief pray for Kulsoom's fast recovery

In a post on Twitter, Imran Khan prayed for her speedy recovery and win in battle against cancer.

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Wednesday extended best wishes to ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who has been recently diagnosed with throat cancer.

In a post on Twitter, Imran Khan prayed for her speedy recovery and win in battle against cancer. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also made a telephone call to Nawaz Sharif to express his best wishes and prayers for health of Begum Kalsoom Nawaz.

Mrs Kulsoom Nawaz, who is all set to contest in NA-120 by-poll in Lahore on September 17 after her nomination papers were approved by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), had flown to the United Kingdom last week for a medical checkup.

Sources privy to the family have reported that ex-premier’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz would lead PML-N’s electioneering in the constituency in her mother’s absence owing to the medical treatment that medics have said would be started at the earliest.

But despite her ailment, there was no question of Mrs Nawaz withdrawing from the contest, former Premier’s close aide said on Wednesday.

The seat fell vacant after Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif under Artilce 62 (f) of the Constitution on July 28 in Panama leaks case.
