Watch: Plane passenger opens emergency door for some 'fresh air'

A shocking video has surfaced on the internet which captured a woman on Xiamen Airlines flight opening the plane door because it was “too stuffy.”

Airlines usually have to deal with grievances of passengers regarding the temperature on the aircraft, which is mostly remedied by adjusting the air conditioning or putting an extra layer of clothing.

However, a middle-aged woman, who felt hot toward the end of the boarding process chose to take a different route. The unnamed woman opened the emergency exit as she reportedly felt the cabin was “too stuffy” and wanted “a breath of fresh air.”

According to cabin crew on flight MF 8215, the incident took place on 23 September towards the end of boarding procedure.

The incident delayed the plane's takeoff by one hour and second round of safety inspections had to be carried out to safely close the door again, as reported by The Sun.

The woman will likely be fined for her actions, as opening the emergency exit on a plane is classified as disturbing public order.

The viral video of the alarming incident has garnered over 18 million views in less than 24 hours. The footage shows a row of passengers sitting next to the emergency exit which is wide open as the plane sits on the tarmac. The woman was arrested after the authorities arrived.
