Polls open for French parliamentary election

Macron's Republic on the Move (REM) and its allies are tipped to win 400-470 seats in the 577-strong parliament.

Paris: Polls opened in mainland France for the country's parliamentary elections on Sunday which surveys forecast will hand an overwhelming majority to the centrist party of President Emmanuel Macron.

Macron's Republic on the Move (REM) and its allies are tipped to win 400-470 seats in the 577-strong parliament, one of the biggest margins of victory in decades which would give the pro-EU leader a free hand to implement his business-friendly programme.
