Indian nurse from Kerala plunges to death from hospital's rooftop in UAE
Dubai: An Indian nurse allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a private hospital's rooftop in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a media report said.
The woman, identified as Suja Singh from Kerala, jumped from Al Ain hospital's building on Sunday afternoon, the Gulf News reported, citing the hospital sources.
The woman, in her early forties, is survived by her two children who study abroad. She was a divorcee. No immediate reasons for suicide were ascertained.
"The woman has been working with the hospital since January...She was working as the head of nurses at the hospital," an official spokesperson of the hospital said.
"The entire hospital staff is shocked because of this unfortunate incident and we are fully supporting the family of the victim in this difficult time. Singh had no issues with the hospital or any of its members. She was working fine," the official said.
However, when the hospital authorities approached her children abroad they were taken aback when the kids refused to see their mother and receive her body, the paper said.
"The family doesn't want to take the body back home to India, so the hospital is planning to arrange her burial in the Emirate," the spokesperson said.
