New Delhi: The Congress on April Fool’s day hit out at the BJP over its “election promises” made to the country. Taking to Twitter, the Congress official handle tweeted that an amount of Rs 15 lakhs have been credited to your account towards ‘Ache Din’. It also termed April Fool’s day as ‘Jumla Diwas’.

Along with the tweet, the party also released a video of over one minute, chiding the BJP for its failure to deliver on its poll promise. The video took potshots over demonetisation, Swachchh Bharat, cleaning of Ganga and the bank frauds that have recently come to light.

The Congress along with a video also tweeted, “An amount of Rs 15,00,000.00 has been CREDITED to your A/C on 01/04/2018 towards Acche Din. Ref No. http://BJP00000420. Total Avail.bal INR 0.00.” The video further said: “Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi have been awarded a foreign trip.” The video is in “breaking news” format and released on its official twitter handle, the Congress used puns as it sought to poke fun at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Demonetisation has killed corruption, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi have boosted Government’s Swachh Bharat campaign by cleaning the Punjab National Bank,” says the 70-second video, which runs with a voiceover in Hindi.

Taking a jibe on the PM’s pet “Namami Gange project”, the video says, “The Ganges has been rid of all its pollution so much so that you can now clearly see Prime Minister  Modi’s picture in its clean waters”.

Apart from the video, the party also tweeted several slides taking pot shots at the BJP led Central government. “With diesel prices at an ALL-time and Petrol prices at a 4-year high, we thought this was a rather cruel April Fool’s day joke, Prime Minister Modi. Unfortunately, it is not,” reads one of the tweets.

The Congress has been alleging that the BJP, since coming to power in May 2014, has been busy in marketing itself rather than focusing on the issues being faced by country.

It has also used these examples in election campaigns against the BJP.
