Cong says Shah tried to spread hatred in Telangana, seeks EC action

New Delhi: While communal tension continues to brew at Bulandshahar, the Congress on Tuesday urged the Election Commission to issue a notice to BJP chief Amit Shah for a statement he had made in Telangana, which the Opposition party alleged was aimed at creating a communal atmosphere in the poll-bound state.

A team of Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Kamal Nath and Kapil Sibal met EC officials and raised a number of issues including EVM-related complaints in Madhya Pradesh and Mr Shah’s statement made in an election rally.

After the meeting with EC officials, Mr Sibal said that the BJP President’s statement in Telangana was absolutely false and misrepresented some points of the Congress’s poll manifesto in the southern state.

The BJP chief had said the Congress, in its manifesto in Telangana, had promised free electricity to mosques and churches but not to temples.
