Lifafa gang busted, four robbers arrested

New Delhi: The Delhi police arrested four robbers, involved in several cases of robberies, cheating and snatching near Kapashera border area said the police on Friday.

The accused were identified as Abdul Ahad (32), Rajveer (25), Mufid (23) and Shankar (42). Shanker is the kingpin of the Lifafa gang, according to the police.

The police said that on Tuesday at around 4pm complainant Ghanshyam, a resident of UP, was waiting at the Kapashera bus stand to board a bus proceeding to Anand Vihar bus terminal. At the same time, one Eeco car came and stopped near him and the driver asked him where he wanted to go.

When the driver heard that the complainant wanted to go to Anand Vihar bus terminal, he offered to drop him (the complainant) there, but said that he would charge equal to the bus fare.

Three persons who were already seated in the car when complainant boarded the vehicle. After a few minutes, one person sitting in the rear grabbed the complainant’s neck, while the other one held his hands. They robbed him of Rs 2,580 and dropped him on road side and sped away.

On hearing the complainant’s screams, a police personnel came to the spot and the victim briefed him about the whole episode. Acting on the information, a police team along with the victim gave chase to the Eeco car. They succeeded in forcing the accused’s car to a stop some distance near Kapashera traffic island and apprehended the accused, Abdul, Mufid, Rajveer and Shankar

During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in robberies and cheating and snatching  cases on the Kapashera border. Probe regarding their involvement in other cases is underway,  said M.M. Dumbere DCP (South-West).
