New Delhi: A 28-year-old MBA graduate was arrested on Saturday on charges of committing serial thefts in Khadi Gram Udyog. The police said that the accused had committed thefts at Connaught Place’s Khadi Gram Udyog on March 23.

A complaint was filed by assistant director, Khadi Gram Udyog Bhavan, regarding the theft of articles (like idols, clothes, pulses, masalas, cosmetic products and artificial ornaments etc) from store.  After receiving the complaint, the case was registered.

During the area patrolling, constable Amit found one suspicious person who was carrying an idol of lord Hanuman and trying to sell it to a passersby. Amit brought him to police station for questioning.

During interrogation, suspicious person, identified as Abhishek, a resident of Bareily, Uttar Pradesh told the police that in the month of December 2017, he committed theft at Khadi Gram Udyog, Connaught Place, after hiding one article in his pant’s pocket. After that he regularly visited the store and kept stealing articles. He would target small and easy to carry articles.

The police added that the stolen articles comprised mostly small expensive metal idols, cosmetics articles, clothing (like Kurta, Shirts, pants etc), pairs of shoes, slippers, ornaments like bangles, ear rings, nickels, rings, manglesutra etc., leather purses, card holders and expensive metals spoons, forks etc.

On further investigation, he disclosed that he kept the stolen articles at his rented accommodation and the police team led by sub-inspector Rahul Singh, was constituted and during the raid the stolen articles were recovered.
