Mumbai: It is clear that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will continue to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even after his meeting with party chief Amit Shah. Mr Thackeray will address the meeting of party workers in the run up to the elections for the graduate and teacher legislative council constituencies in Mumbai on Monday. Both the Sena and the BJP have fielded their own candidates on these seats.

After the BJP chief visited Matoshree last week under his ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ Abhiyan, it was assumed that both sides would refrain from attacking each other. But the Sena chief seems to be in no mood to hold back.

Shiv Sena is contesting both legislative council seats in Mumbai. The graduate constituency and the teacher’s constituency are both set for elections. The Sena has fielded a candidate on both seats without even consulting the BJP. In return, the BJP too has fielded its candidates on both seats.

“We are confident that we will win both the seats. The graduate constituency had our MLC. But this time we will also win the teacher’s constituency. Uddhavji will guide the Shiv Sainiks on Monday,” said MLC Anil Parab.

The BJP is trying to convince the Sena to become its alliance partner. In fact, the BJP leadership has publicly appealed to Sena leadership to not contest elections on  its own, and thus avoid the division of votes.
