An officer attached to the K unit of the special branch (SB) was on Tuesday dismissed from service. The order came after it was found that the officer made casteist remarks against her seniors. During inquiry it was found that she also made regular baseless allegations against her reporting officers who were police inspectors and also entered frivolous charges in the police diary against them.

The officer identified as Sunita Atmaram Warang was dismissed under the Prevention of Atrocities Act on November 17 after several complaints were made against her to the senior SB official. According to police officials, as an inspector the woman used to make wrong statements in the dairy regarding her employees on the basis of whether she liked them or not. Also, she used to scold her juniors on the basis of their caste, said the sources. On being called by the senior official to explain her conduct, Ms Warang criticised her the senior official as well on the basis of his caste.

“After her several complaints, the DG of Maharashtra ordered an inquiry into the matter and on Tuesday, after all investigations were completed against her, she was dismissed from service,” said an official requesting anonymity.
