A 32-year-old woman was attacked with a sharp object and thrown off a moving auto rickshaw, allegedly by her husband’s business partner, on Tuesday evening at Mulund (east). The police is on the lookout for the accused, as well as the auto driver. The victim is a resident of Mulund (west). Asha Devendar Sindal was travelling with Jayanti Vador (52) when an argument erupted out between the two. “The accused Vador had spotted Sindal in Mulund (east) and offered to drop her home in the auto. The rickshaw had reached Airoli Bridge signal on the Eastern Express Highway when the two were arguing. The verbal duel escalated when Vador attacked the victim and threw her out of the auto,” said senior police inspector Ganesh Gaikwad of Navghar police station. The auto continued on its path, while Sindal lay injured on the road. A BEST bus was passing by when a woman passenger spotted Sindal lying on the road and took her to Savarkar Hospital, after which the police was informed. The police had learnt that Sindal’s husband and Vador ran a wholesale business of selling bags and purses, but the relationship between their families soured after a reported financial dispute. “Vador had borrowed money a few years ago from Asha’s husband Devendar and was supposed to return it with interest. However, he defaulted on the payment,” added Mr Gaikwad. Sindal has sustained injuries on her left hand and legs, but is out of danger and recuperating.
