The Panchkarma is an Ayurvedic wellness programme that involves vegetarian diet, meditation, yoga and massages.

Ayurveda has been regarded as an effective way of living a healthy life and keeping several diseases at bay, and while many claims have been made regarding the abilities of this traditional technique to cure major diseases, a study has now discovered that Ayurvedic Panchkarma treatment for a week can considerably reduce risks of heart disease.

The Panchkarma is an Ayurvedic wellness programme that involves vegetarian diet, meditation, yoga and massages. The study found that it brings down number of metabolites connected to inflammation and cardiovascular diseases.

The study used metabolic biomarkers to analyse the effects of integrative medicine and a holistic lifestyle. The findings from a clinical trial showed the benefits of the practice.

A researcher Christine Tara Peterson said, “Panchakarma refers to a detoxification and rejuvenation protocol involving massage, herbal therapy and other procedures to help strengthen and rejuvenate the body.”
