New Delhi: A businessman allegedly tried to run over a woman acquaintance with his Mercedes following an argument in Khan Market.

The incident took place last Thursday when the victim had gone to Khan Market to meet the accused, Himanshu Bhandari. She had been called by the latter’s wife to sort out some differences.

In her complaint, the victim claimed that Mr Bhandari’s wife had some unresolved personal issues with her. She said that in order to sort the issues, she had requested Mr Bhandari to hold a meeting between both their parents.

He told her that he was out of town. The woman then contacted his wife and shared some information, including pictures, which could have cleared the confusion arising from Mr Bhandari’s presenting “different stories” to his wife.

Mr Bhandari’s wife then called the victim to meet them at Khan Market. During the conversation, she got angry and allegedly abused and slapped the complainant. After she left, Mr Bhandari and the victim decided to file a complaint against his wife.

He also called his father, who purportedly blamed him for the situation and slapped him, stated the victim in her complaint to police.

Following this episode, Mr Bhandari asked the woman to board his car as they prepared to leave Khan Market. But before she could get inside the car, Mr Bhandari tried to run her over with his car.

While Mr Bhandari managed to drive away, a police officer said he was later arrested. The accused has since been granted bail. He had been booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
