During the course of investigation, a total of 10 stolen cars were recovered on their instance from Meerut and Muradnagar in UP.

New Delhi: Ten luxury cars were recovered with the arrest of three auto lifters by the Delhi police of North district. High tech auto lifting equipments used in the commission of the crimes along with lockset keys of 12 luxury cars were also seized, said DCP (North) Nupur Prasad.

The arrested accused were identified as Mohsin (39) from Meerut, Aslam (38) from Hapur, and Shahzad (28) from Aurangabad. The accused were involved in numerous cases, including murder and other heinous crimes. It was further disclosed that they were previously involved in more than 500 cases of motor theft throughout the country.

A tip-off was received on Thursday that some criminals, who were involved in several cases of auto theft, were roaming in the area of Timarpur in a stolen car. A trap was laid and the trio was arrested, said the DCP.

An engine control module (ECM) including vehicle opening tools and 52 keys of other cars were recovered from their possession during a search.

During interrogation, accused Mohsin disclosed that he initially came to Delhi to steal car stereos. In the mean time, he met other lifters who motivated him to steal cars.

During the course of investigation, a total of 10 stolen cars were recovered on their instance from Meerut and Muradnagar in UP.
