The complainant said that Rs 10 lakh was credited in his account last year as pension after he was retired from the force.
New Delhi: A retired Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) officer was allegedly became the recent target of cyber cheats when he got duped of Rs9.33 lakh after the cyber thugs withdrew the officer’s pension.
According to the complaint, the former SSB officer has been identified as Ram Bhajan Singh (62), who hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and lives in Trilokpuri with his family.
The complainant said that Rs 10 lakh was credited in his account last year as pension after he was retired from the force. The money was withdrawn from his State Bank of India Trilokpuri branch’s account.
He further said that last month, he had gone to the bank to withdraw money when two men present inside an ATM kiosk exchanged his debit-cum-ATM card and the duo kept regularly withdrawing money from ATMs and via online transactions.
Mr Singh said he didn’t realise about the withdrawals till May 30 as he had left for his native. When he returned on May 30 evening, he received a call from the bank informing him about the regular transactions. A shell-shocked Mr Singh immediately went to check his account where he found that the online cheats had left a meagre amount of Rs 123 in his account.
He immediately informed the bank and later approached the police in this regard. The police has registered a case and are probing in this connect.
