In a first, SRA to launch GIS portal for citizens
Mumbai: For the first time, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) will be launching a portal to facilitate citizens, architects as well as developers. Through the portal, citizens will be able to access information about redevelopment projects online. According to officials, the website will be launched this year and will be inaugurated by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The City Title Survey (CTS) department of SRA has been working towards this portal for the past two years.
The GIS (Geographic Information System) portal is a part of the initiative where data for slums spread over entire Mumbai has been created, which can be useful for citizens and other stakeholders of SRA. “We are sure that the portal will be launched this year itself and our higher officials are in talks with the CM to inaugurate the same. Once operational, citizens can get information about SRA schemes within a few clicks on the internet,” said a SRA official from the CTS department.
Earlier, the citizens had to either file an RTI or approach the CTS office of the area to get information the redevelopment projects; the survey officer used to then takes 10-15 days to give the required information. However, now through the portal, citizens can get the information by feeding in the required and specific details.
The portal is designed with multiple layers of search facility like district, taluka, ward, village, clusters and landmarks. If the citizens have any query, they can get the necessary report on their queries through this portal.
