Matron booked for child assault gets pre-arrest bail

Mumbai: The Bombay high court has granted an anticipatory bail to the matron of a Childrens Home at Mankhurd in connection with mercilessly beating up an eight-year-old girl on May 26 for spending too much time in the toilet. She has also been accused of making the child lick her own vomit.

The superintendent of the Childrens Home had registered a FIR at the Trombay police station under section 75 of Child Justice (Child Care Protection) Act against Sangeeta Pawar, the accused.

Pawar moved before the Sessions court seeking protection from her arrest. The court while granting relief to the accused asked her to go to the police station during pendency of her plea and she was directed not to temper with the evidence.

Pawar moved to the Bombay high court seeking pre-arrest bail. During the hearing, Justice Prakash Deu Naik was informed that later on she appeared before the investigating officer.

The accused had to provide a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and surety of same amount to get anticipatory bail.
