56-yr-old man jumps off 8th floor of hospital building in Mumbai

Mumbai: A 56-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the eighth floor of a hospital building in suburban Andheri on Monday, police said.

The deceased, Ramsingh Jaiswal, a resident of suburban Jogeshwari, had recently undergone a heart bypass surgery at the hospital, DCP (Zone X) N D Reddy said.

"Jaiswal ended his life by jumping off from the eight floor of the hospital building at around 10 am," the official said adding that he had recovered after the surgery and was scheduled to be discharged on Monday.

Police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the alleged suicide.

"No case has been registered so far," Reddy said.

Officers of MIDC police station in Andheri are carrying out an investigation into the case.
